PLIMLEY, Paul, musician (b 1953, Vancouver). He is one of the leading Canadian musicians to have explored JAZZ music beyond its traditional song-based format. Plimley studied piano at UBC, and he also played vibraphone and marimba. He was one of the founders of the New Orchestra Workshop (NOW) in 1977, and he studied at the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, NY, with Karl Berger and the pianist Cecil Taylor.
