Porpoise


PORPOISE, a toothed WHALE belonging to the family Phocoenidae, is the smallest cetacean in Canadian waters, growing to only about 2 m in length. Porpoises are less gregarious than DOLPHINS and usually travel in groups of 5 or fewer. They use echolocation to manoeuvre underwater and to find their food, mainly fish.
