POUND, Richard, swimmer, sports administrator (b 22 Mar 1942, St Catharines, ON). Raised in OCEAN FALLS, he emerged from that community's famed swim club to become one of Canada's leading competitors. At the 1960 Rome Olympics he was a 100-m freestyle finalist and a member of the 4th-place medley relay team, and at the 1962 BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES he won gold in the 110-yard freestyle.
