PUNCHAW, 65 km southwest of PRINCE GEORGE on the Chilako R, is the centre of a remote ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) and LOGGING district. There is a FOREST SERVICE campsite 10 km east on Punchaw Lk. The name is a DAKELH (Carrier) word meaning "big lake."
