Rabbit and Hare


RABBIT and HARE are small, furry mammals belonging, like the PIKA, to the family Leporidae in the order Lagomorpha. Rabbits and hares are herbivores and both are important links in the food chain, providing meat for larger predators. Hares are slightly larger than rabbits and give birth to young (called leverets) that are fully furred, sighted and ready to hop within minutes, whereas newborn rabbits are hairless, blind and helpless.
