Redstone

REDSTONE, pop 185 (2001), 105 km west of WILLIAMS LAKE on the Chilcotin Hwy (Hwy 20; see ROADS AND HWYS) at the confluence of the CHILCOTIN and Chilanko rivers, is named for a nearby reddish cliff. E.P. Lee started a ranch in 1895; a trading post also dates from that time. Today it is a TSILHQOT'IN (Chilcotin) community, Tsi Del Del, whose members first moved here 40 years ago to be closer to schools and services.
