RODE, Ajmer, engineer, writer (b 1 Jan 1940, Punjab, India). He immigrated to Canada in 1966. After completing his MSc at the Univ of Waterloo, he moved to the West Coast and has lived here ever since. He worked as an engineer with BC GAS, and has been writing full-time since 1994. He has published 4 books of poetry—2 in English and 2 in Punjabi—and several plays in Punjabi. In 1998 he published a 1,000-page book of Punjabi poetry, Leela, with his brother, also a poet.
