ROGERS, Charles W., chocolatier (b 1854, Boston, MA; d 1927, Victoria). He began as a grocer in VICTORIA and expanded into the chocolate business in the 1880s. He and his wife Leah, with whom he ran the business and made the chocolates, were notorious eccentrics. They refused to deal with banks, often slept all night in chairs in their store and opened for business only when they felt like it.
