SHRIMP is a marine crustacean with 10 jointed legs and a nearly cylindrical body. There are more than 85 species recorded in BC waters, occurring from the intertidal zone to depths exceeding 5,000 m. Different species prefer different habitats, from rocky bottom to mud and sand. Most species are bottom dwellers but some rise off the bottom at times.
