SILVERDALE, 38 km east of NEW WESTMINSTER on the CPR and the north side of the FRASER R in the municipality of MISSION, was an early FRASER VALLEY farming and LOGGING settlement. Bill MINER committed the first train robbery in Canada here in 1904, escaping with about $7,000 in gold and cash.
