Skookumchuck Rapids


SKOOKUMCHUCK RAPIDS  () is a narrow passage in SECHELT INLET north of SECHELT. The name derives from a CHINOOK JARGON word meaning "strong water." The tide rushing through the narrows creates boiling rapids and whirlpools 4 times a day; the roar can be heard at a distance.
