SLADE, Michael, was originally the pen name for a trio of VANCOUVER lawyers, John Banks, Richard Covell and Jay Clarke, who in 1987 began publishing a series of highly popular thrillers featuring the fictional RCMP Chief Superintendent Robert DeClercq. By the time Burnt Bones, the seventh in the series, appeared in 1999, Clarke was writing the books by himself.
