Smeeton, Miles Richard and Beryl

SMEETON, Miles Richard (b 5 Mar 1906, Hovingham, England; d 23 Sept 1988, Calgary) and Beryl (b 21 Sept 1905, Tolpuddle, England; d 14 Nov 1979, Cochrane, AB), adventurers. They lived a remarkable life of almost constant adventuring from the time they married in 1938. Miles was a career soldier in the British Army; Beryl had made arduous solo trips by rail, horseback and foot through Siberia, China and S America. In the Himalayas she climbed to the highest altitude of any woman to that time...
