SMITH, Gordon Appelbe, artist (b 18 June 1919, Hove, England; d 18 Jan 2020, West Vancouver). He moved to Winnipeg as a teenager and studied at the Winnipeg School of Art. During WWII he served overseas and was wounded in Sicily. After returning to Canada he moved to VANCOUVER, where he has lived ever since. After completing studies at the Vancouver School of Art (see EMILY CARR INSTITUTE OF ART & DESIGN) he served on the faculty there from 1946 until 1956, then at UBC's faculty of education...
