SORENSEN-LENIHAN, Geraldine Ann "Gerry," skier (b 15 Oct 1958, Kimberley). She began SKIING at age 10 and joined the national team in 1979. In 1981 she was the first Canadian woman in more than a decade to win a World Cup race. In Jan 1982 she won the World Cup downhill race in Grindelwald, Switzerland, and the highlight of her career came a month later in Austria when she captured the world alpine downhill championship, the first Canadian to do so since 1958.
