SPILSBURY, Ashton James "Jim," businessman, coastal mariner (b 8 Oct 1905, Derbyshire, Eng; d 20 Apr 2003, Vancouver). Raised on SAVARY ISLAND, he became interested in radio communication as a young man. In the 1920s he set up a business selling and servicing radio equipment to the many far-flung small settlements along the coast.
