STEVENSON, Anne (Mackenzie), teacher, community activist (b 7 Sept 1903, Johannesburg, S Africa; d 6 Aug 1995, Cloverdale). She was the daughter of Roderick Mackenzie, a pioneer CARIBOO merchant who established the first permanent store in WILLIAMS LAKE when the community emerged in 1919. A teacher by profession, she was also a 10-year school trustee in Williams Lake and a founder of Cariboo College (now Univ College of the Cariboo).
