Stewart, John William


STEWART, John William, railway contractor (b 1862, Nedd, Scotland; d 24 Sept 1938, Vancouver). Born into a poor crofter's family, he immigrated to Canada in 1882 and began working with the CPR as a member of a survey crew. This work brought him to BC in 1885, and he became part of the crew surveying the line between PORT MOODY and VANCOUVER.
