STREPPEL, Greg, swimmer (b 3 June 1968, Galt, ON). During the mid-1990s he was among the top marathon swimmers in the world. Coached by Ron Jacks of Island SWIMMING, he won the 25-km swim at the 1994 World Aquatic Championships in Italy. That year he also won back-to-back 25-km races in Argentina, then returned in 1995 to duplicate his wins, a feat never matched by another distance swimmer.
