Takysie Lake

TAKYSIE LAKE  () , 40 km south of BURNS LAKE between FRANÇOIS and OOTSA lakes, was first settled in the early 1910s. LOGGING and ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) were the economic mainstays. A road was built in 1940 and a number of MENNONITES arrived in 1945. Today the lake has a pleasant resort and a reputation for good sport FISHING. The name is a DAKELH (Carrier) word meaning "three heads."
