TANAGER, WESTERN (Piranga ludoviciana) is a brilliantly coloured bird found in summer in BC's coniferous and mixed forests, where it eats INSECTS and small fruit. The male's bright red head, yellow body and black wings make this species unmistakable. It winters in Mexico and farther south to Costa Rica.
