Tern


TERN is a mid-sized bird similar in appearance to a small GULL, though its wings are more pointed, its tail is forked and it is generally more streamlined in shape. Grey and white in colour, with a black cap and a pointed red bill, the tern feeds on INSECTS and dives into the water for FISH. Terns nest on the ground in open, flat areas near water.
