Texada Island

TEXADA ISLAND  () , 287 sq km, pop 1,129, lies adjacent to the SUNSHINE COAST in GEORGIA STRAIT, 80 km north of VANCOUVER. It was named for Felix de Tejeda, an officer with the NARVÁEZ expedition in 1791. An extensive industrial history includes MINING, LOGGING and quarrying.
