Times-Colonist, Victoria


TIMES-COLONIST, VICTORIA, western Canada's oldest NEWSPAPER, was created in 1980 from the merger of the Victoria Times (founded 1884) and the Victoria Colonist (established in 1858 as the British Colonist). The Colonist's founder and first editor was Amor DE COSMOS, who sold the paper in 1863, went into politics and eventually became BC's second PREMIER.
