TOBA INLET, one of the narrow FJORDS indenting the middle coast, doglegs into the COAST MTS just north of DESOLATION SOUND. It extends 32 km from the REDONDA ISLANDS at its mouth to the ESTUARY of the Toba R at the top end. Once the territory of the KLAHOOSE First Nation, whose village sites were around the head of the inlet, it is named for Antonio Toba Arredondo, a Spanish naval officer who sailed with Alejandro MALASPINA.
