TOLMIE, William Fraser, fur trader, politician (b 3 Feb 1812, Inverness, Scotland; d 8 Dec 1886, Victoria). Trained in medicine, he joined the HBC in 1832 as a clerk and surgeon. He arrived at Fort Vancouver in May 1833 and was posted to the north at FORT McLOUGHLIN.
