Trans-Canada Highway

TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAY (Hwy 1) was completed through BC on 30 July 1962 with the official opening of the 147-km ROGERS PASS section between REVELSTOKE and GOLDEN. The highway was built under the terms of a federal-provincial agreement signed in 1949 and construction began in earnest the next year.
