Truax, Barry

TRUAX, Barry, composer (b 1947, Chatham, ON). He is one of Canada's leading electroacoustic composers. He came to VANCOUVER in 1969 to attend UBC. In 1973 he began teaching at SFU in the School of Communication and Contemporary Arts, where, among other things, he has been involved in recording ambient sound for the World Soundscape Project. He is also a member of Vancouver's Urban Noise Task Force, which deals with noise pollution in the city. Truax runs his own CD label, Cambridge Street...
