TUPPER, also known as Tupper Creek, is a grain and DAIRY FARMING settlement on Swan Lk near the Alberta border, 30 km south of DAWSON CREEK in the PEACE R district. Ellis Borden opened a store and hotel here about 1920 and the Northern Alberta Rwy arrived in 1931. Many Sudetan German WWII refugees settled nearby at TOMSLAKE in 1939. The creek, and Tupper R north of Swan Lk, were named after Frank Tupper, who surveyed the area.
