TUPPER, Charles Hibbert, lawyer, politician (b 3 Aug 1855, Amherst, NS; d 30 Mar 1927, Oak Bay). Son of the Conservative prime minister Charles Tupper, he entered politics himself in 1882 as a Conservative MP from Pictou and served in John A. Macdonald's cabinet from 1888 to 1893 as minister of marine and fisheries. He was also minister of justice from 1894 to 1896, and during his father's brief administration in 1896 he was solicitor general. He then left federal politics and moved to VICTORIA...
