University of Northern BC


UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN BC originated in 1990 with the passage of provincial legislation authorizing a university at PRINCE GEORGE. The first president was Geoffrey Weller (1991–95); he was succeeded by George Pedersen (June–Oct 1995) and then Charles Jago (1995–present). Construction of the main campus began in 1992 and in Aug 1994 Queen Elizabeth presided at the ceremonial opening. Full classes for 1,400 students began in Sept 1994 and by 2006 the university had an enrolment of 3,561....
