UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA (UVic) originated as Victoria College in 1903 offering first-year university courses in affiliation with Montreal's McGill Univ. When UBC began offering courses in VANCOUVER in 1915, the Victoria school closed temporarily; in 1920 it reopened as an affiliate of UBC.
