USK is a tiny LOGGING community on the SKEENA R, 20 km northeast of TERRACE. It began in 1912 as a station on the GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY. The Yellowhead Hwy passes on the opposite side of the river and the train does not stop here any more, but the community has maintained its link with the outside world via a cable reaction ferry (see also BIG BAR CREEK) across the river.
