VANDERPANT, John (Jan van der Pant), photographer (b 11 Jan 1884, Alkmaar, Netherlands; d 24 July 1939, Vancouver). He was internationally renowned during the 1920s and 1930s for his black-and-white silver bromide prints. A Dutch photojournalist, Vanderpant immigrated to southern Alberta in 1911 with his wife Catharina. In Alberta he operated 3 commercial photo studios.
