VOGHT VALLEY

, a LOGGING and ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) district 90 km southwest of KAMLOOPS, was settled in the 1880s and named after Bill Voght, a local pioneer. His father, William H. Voght, had participated in the FRASER R GOLD RUSH and was an early promoter of COAL mining and railway construction in the MERRITT area.
