WARREN, James Douglas, master mariner (b 1837, PEI; d 9 Sept 1917, Victoria). He arrived in VICTORIA in 1858 and in the 1860s began trading with aboriginal groups along the coast. In partnership with another Victoria fur dealer, Joseph Boscowitz, he entered the pelagic FUR SEAL hunt and also operated several coastal trading posts.
