WATUN RIVER, on Graham Island, 13 km south of MASSET in the QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS, was originally known as Woden River. J.B. McDonald, a CATHOLIC priest, built a church and school in 1912 and a group of Seventh Day Adventists also settled here. A BOATBUILDING business and hotel were established, and a cannery opened in the 1920s. When it closed in 1930 the settlement was abandoned.
