WAXWING is a small, multicoloured perching bird. Its plumage shades from grey to brown, highlighted by a backsweeping crest, a black line through the eyes, a yellow-tipped tail and red, waxy tips on some of the wing feathers. The waxwing is gregarious, with a soft, high-pitched call. It feeds on fruit and flying INSECTS.
