WHISTLER, district municipality, pop 13,982 (2021), BC's only resort municipality, nestles in the COAST MTS 120 km north of VANCOUVER. Originally known as ALTA LAKE, it attracted loggers, miners and a few summer visitors until the 1960s, when winter recreation began.
