Williston, Ray Gillis

WILLISTON, Ray Gillis, teacher, politician (b 1914, Victoria; d 7 Dec 2006, Sechelt). He began teaching in 1934 at a one-room school south of SALMON ARM; by 1950 he was a school inspector in northern BC. Attracted to politics by a desire to reform the school system, he won election as a SOCIAL CREDIT candidate in PRINCE GEORGE in 1953. The following year he joined Premier W.A.C.
