WINCH, Richard Vance, salmon canner (b 1862, Cobourg, ON; d 31 July 1952, Vancouver). He came west from Ontario as a teenager and worked on CPR construction before settling in VANCOUVER in 1886. He started a food retail business with his brother-in-law George Bower, then branched into SALMON CANNING, establishing Canadian Packers Canning Co on the FRASER R.
