Alexander Shoal


Alexander Shoal (53˚33'00" 130˚08'00" In Principe Channel between Banks I and S end of McCauley I). Named in 1950 after Squadron Leader Edward Sudbury Alexander of the RCAF, who was born in England but raised in Montreal and Vancouver. He was awarded the DFM in 1942, while flying with No 419 Squadron, after skilfully navigating a damaged bomber back to the UK from Europe. The DFC came in 1944 while Alexander was with No 156 Squadron, flying Lancasters; he had at that time completed 51 bombing...
