All Alone Stone

All Alone Stone (52˚29'00" 131˚24'00" Juan Perez Sd, E side of Moresby I, QCI). A rounded, forested islet about 40 m in height, named in 1878 by Dr George M Dawson of the Geological Survey of Canada because it, along with Monument Rk, were thought to be useful landmarks for vessels entering Burnaby Str. A local literary periodical chose this name in the 1970s as a title and symbol of Haida Gwaii itself.
