Amethyst Rock (52˚46'00" 131˚58'00" NE of Botany I, Tasu Sd, E side of Moresby I, QCI). Named in 1962 for the Amethyst, a copper-fastened ship of all trades built of live oak in Boston in 1821. It started life as a packet on the Boston–Liverpool run, then served as a whaler for 20 years, a coal ship on the eastern seaboard, a coaster in the China trade and, in the 1870s, a lumber carrier on the Pacific coast.
