Anthracite Point (53 ̊12'00" 132 ̊14'00" Between Long Inlet and Kagan Bay at W side of Skidegate Inlet, QCI). This feature was formerly known as South Point but was renamed by the hydrographic service in 1945. Coal was found in the area in 1859, and some work was done at the Cowgitz Mine, 1865–72. The coal was found to be of poor quality and insufficient quantity, however, and the operation was later abandoned.
