Assits Island


Assits Island (48 ̊56'00" 125 ̊02'00" NE side of Trevor Channel at entrance to Alberni Inlet, W side of Vancouver I). Assits is the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation word for wasp, as listed in Gilbert Sproat’s Scenes and Studies of Savage Life (1868), which included a Nuu-chah-nulth vocabulary. Formerly known as Turn I and Assists I.
