Atchison Island


Atchison Island (50 ̊35'00" 126 ̊13'00" N of entrance to Call Inlet, E side of Broughton Archipelago, E of Port McNeill). Named in 1860 by RN surveyor Capt George Richards after James Atchison, MD (1803–62), from County Tyrone, Ireland. He was the surgeon aboard HMS Havannah, under Capt Thomas Harvey, on the Pacific Station, 1855–59.
