Beddis Rock (48˚46'00" 123˚18'00" Off Boat Nook, SW of N Pender I, Gulf Is). Samuel John Beddis (1850–93) was born in England and arrived in Victoria with his wife, Emily Adelaide (1852–1919), and their five children in 1884 after living in the US. Saltspring I pioneer Henry Ruckle persuaded them to homestead on Saltspring, and they settled on the E coast, near the mouth of Cusheon Ck, where one of the island’s nicest beaches is named after the family.
