Bernard Point


Bernard Point (50˚19'00" 125˚07'00" N tip of Maurelle I, N of Campbell R). Named by the hydrographic service in 1954 after Trafford Bernard, a well-known local resident and railway logger who operated in the Hole in the Wall and Port Neville areas, and at Orford Bay on Bute Inlet. His companies—Southgate Logging, Homalco Logging and Bernard Timber & Logging—were major employers in the region in the 1920s; the Orford Bay camp alone was home to three locomotives and a 600-man crew....
