Blackie Spit (49˚04'00" 122˚53'00" E side of Boundary Bay at mouth of Nickomekl R, S of Vancouver). Walter Blackie (1824–1902) was the first blacksmith at New Westminster and a city councillor. Of Scottish descent, he arrived from Australia in the early 1860s and bought land at Crescent Beach in 1871.
